Death Guard Test

One of my 2015 goals is to paint up a small Rogue Trade army in a Heresy theme.  This brave lad, a very old style marine (with pantaloons to boot!), is serving as my test subject.

After much deliberation, I decided to move ahead with a Death Guard paint scheme.  I'm happy with the results in general, though I need to figure our a way to make the scratches and dings look less like paint splatter.  In an odd twist, though, they look better in the photos than in real life.

All that said, I feel some twinge of pain in painting these old minis in a more "modern" Heresy look.

I would greatly appreciate feedback on whether this is sacrilege (or heresy!) or just healthy post-modernism.
